Our goal at St. Mary Preschool is to provide children with the opportunity to participate in activities that develop children socially, emotionally, mentally, spiritually and physically.
Pre-kindergarten activities are planned to meet the changing needs of 3 to 5 year olds. These activities build self-confidence, encourage independence, and develop numerous kindergarten skills.
Mrs. Sisson has been with St. Mary preschool/pre-kindergarten since 2005. She played a major role in the accreditation process of the preschool program, which has been accredited thru AdvancED since 2016. In 2017, Mrs. Sisson led a school-wide effort to receive a Community Foundation grant to create an interactive sensory/science garden on the St. Mary campus for teaching all students about various aspects of nature.
Mrs. Sisson is very involved with her church and has taught preschool age children in Sunday school classes and Jr. Church for over 20 years. She directed the preschool V.B.S. program and co-directed the V.B.S. program for 15 years. Mrs. Sisson has also been directing the Children’s Creative Ministry Program at her church for 24 years. Both of her children attended St. Mary preschool and graduated from St. Mary/Pope John Paul II School.

Our program has a theme each month with special activities that coincide with our academic curriculum. Some themes include fire safety, nutrition & dental health and our 5 senses.St. Mary Preschool is both a positive and loving environment. We encourage self-help skills, responsibility, and respect. Children will be more successful by learning to be independent, helpful, and respectful of others.
Play is an essential aspect of each preschooler’s day. Through play, children learn to make choices, use and develop their imagination, social skills, and build a positive self-esteem. Learning to get along with others and follow directions will establish a positive school experience. Because young children are naturally explorers, our program helps children discover and make sense of the word around them through science experiments, hands-on field trips, nature walks and discovery experiences.
